About Me

       
Kachen Lobzang Zodpa was born in Basgo, Leh Ladakh India, in May 4th 1972. His father name is Tsewang Tashi, he is traditional doctor. Mother, Tsering Palmo, she is house mother. He is the fourth son of a family of nine children.
When he was nine years old he began study at Liker Monastery in Ladakh. At the same age he ordained as Samenara under H. E Lochos Rinpoche.  After three years of study in 1983 he went to Tashi Lhunpo Monastery in south India for farther studies. 

He master in five major taxes in Gelukpa tradition, Tsadma,(Valid Cognition) Pharchin, (The Perfection of Wisdom) Uma, (The Middle Way) Zod (Treasure of knowledge) and Dulwa (Monastic Discipline) under the guidance of Tashi Lhunpo's aboat Khen Rinpoche Kachen Lobzang Zotpa and Geshe Thubtan Rinchen.  

He took fully Bhiksu ordained from H.H.the Dalai Lama in 1994. Furthermore he received many preach such as Sutra and Tantric teaching from H.H.the Dalai Lama for several decades.    

In 1997 He was amongst the first group to join the International Gelukpa Exam. After six years of study he secured 1st division. He was awarded the prestigious title of Geshe Lharampa in 2003, and was the youngest person to achieve that title at Tashi Lhunpo. His favorite subject is Buddhist epistemology or means of valid knowledge.

     Kachen Zodpa had an opportunity to serve at the monastery in different levels. Since 1993, He taught new monks in their studies, and he was in-charge of their exams. More recently he has represented the monastery in Europe and the United States. In 2010 Ja Ling Tibetan Buddhist Cultural Center, Baltimore, U.S.A, invited for their Dharma Center translator. He worked in there over two years as translator and teacher. Unfortunately in 2013 center organizer Mrs. Barbara sick very seriously and Dharma Center was close. However, Kachen Zodpa still living in Baltimore himself, and he is teaching continuously every Sundays.
